The Dada Clown Earrings
Brass or 24k Gold Plated
A little highbrow/lowbrow inspo for you. The Dada clown was unashamedly inspired by the classic 90s Argos clown pendant. There is so much not to like about that pendant and yet I find myself coveting it's tacky clown-core bling. I’ve spent the last year playing on and off with my own much softer, abstract version (there have been some very strange elves and accidental gnomes on the cutting room floor). For a little high brow edge my version is a close cousin to 1920s aristocratic costume party photographs feat. silky minimalist clowns and character studies of Pierrot - especially Paul Legrand’s version.
Parade draws inspiration from the ballet of the same name, by Leonide Massine, Eric Satie, Jean Cocteau and with costumes and set design by Pablo Picasso. Continuing on with my circus themed jewels I looked to Parade for a cubist spin. First performed by the Ballets Russes in Paris in 1917, the production is set at a funfair or fairground and follows the story of a traveling circus troupe.
I invite you to adorn your favourite performer…
